"French Drove was spoken of as the place where Thomas Blackith was station master when she (Grandma)was young." Anne Blackwood in letter dated 3 June 1987
"French Drove was, as one book put it, an bizzarely optimistic stop between March and Spalding. Situated in the middle of the lowland Lincolnshire Fens, it is two miles from Gedney Hill village, and is supposed to take its name from the nearby (relatively at just 1 mile) farm of the same name. In terms of what function it served, even the history books don't seem to know, although LNER must have had some use for it. The main large populus is Crowland but this large village/small town is not remotely close to the line." http://www.modelrailforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18884
